Ensayo de infección sanguínea canina
(Babesia/Bburg)

Babesia spp. and Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme disease) are important canine vector-borne pathogens associated with hematologic, systemic, and multisystemic diseases. Babesia infections may cause hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, fever, and severe systemic complications, while Borrelia burgdorferi is associated with fever, lameness, polyarthritis, and, in some cases, renal involvement in dogs. Because these infections often present with non-specific clinical signs, early diagnosis can be challenging.

Conventional diagnostic methods, such as blood smear microscopy for Babesia spp., typically require relatively high levels of parasitemia for reliable detection, while antibody-based assays for Borrelia burgdorferi may fail to identify infections during the early stages before a detectable immune response has developed.

QubeMDx+
Canine Babesia Assay
(B.gibsoni/B.canis/B.vogeli)

Canine babesiosis caused by Babesia spp., including B. gibsoni, B. canis, and B. vogeli, often presents with non-specific clinical signs such as fever, lethargy, anemia, and thrombocytopenia, which may overlap with other tick-borne diseases. Disease severity and treatment response can vary depending on the infecting species, making accurate species identification clinically important.

Conventional diagnostic methods, such as blood smear microscopy, may have limited sensitivity, particularly in cases with low parasitemia, while serological assays may have limited ability to differentiate Babesia species.

Ensayo de infección en sangre canina
(CHW/Ecanis/Aphag & Aplat)

Canine vector-borne diseases (CVBDs), including Canine Heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis), Ehrlichia canis, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, and Anaplasma platys, often present with overlapping and non-specific clinical signs, making accurate diagnosis challenging.

Conventional serological assays, including antigen- and antibody-based methods, may have diagnostic limitations during early-stage infections or in cases with low pathogen burden, potentially leading to delayed or missed diagnosis. In addition, co-infections among vector-borne pathogens may further complicate clinical interpretation and treatment decision-making.

QubeMDx+
Haemoplasma/Bartonella Assay

Hemotropic pathogens, including haemoplasmas and Bartonella spp., are vector-associated infections that affect the hematologic system and vascular endothelium in dogs and cats. Transmission mechanisms vary, with Bartonella spp. primarily spread by blood-feeding arthropods, while the routes of haemoplasma transmission remain less clearly defined.

Clinical presentations can range from subclinical carriage to severe anemia and systemic disease, with Bartonella infections also associated with vasculitis and multi-organ complications. Given the overlapping and often non-specific clinical manifestations, PCR-based diagnostics play a critical role in accurate detection and species-level identification.

QubeMDx+
Hepatozoon/Rickettsii Assay

Vector-borne pathogens such as Hepatozoon spp. and Rickettsia rickettsii are important causes of systemic infection in companion animals. Hepatozoon spp. may affect both dogs and cats, whereas Rickettsia rickettsii is primarily associated with canine tick-borne disease. These pathogens are primarily transmitted by ticks, with Hepatozoon spp. uniquely acquired through ingestion of infected vectors.

Clinical manifestations are highly variable, ranging from subclinical carriage to fever, lethargy, musculoskeletal pain, and chronic systemic disease. Owing to their diverse and often non-specific presentations, accurate laboratory diagnostics are critical for reliable detection and effective clinical management.
